           Other community and elected officials

WHAT: 2nd Annual Back to Excellence Pep Rally

WHEN: Friday, September 14, 2012 from 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM

WHERE: Jean Childs Young Middle School, located at 3116 Benjamin E. Mays Drive

ATLANTA – Atlanta City Councilman H. Lamar Willis will host the 2nd Annual Back to Excellence Pep Rally on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM. The Pep Rally will be held at Jean Childs Young Middle School, located at 3116 Benjamin E. Mays Drive.

This year the pep rally will be hosted by 11 Alive’s, Elle Duncan. Willis stated the goal of the pep rally was “to remind our young people that the community and the City of Atlanta support them and want to see them excel.” At last year’s rally, students were motivated by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, several members of City Council and local philanthropists. This year they can expect the same level of encouragement and energy as they press forward in the new school year.

“As an elected official and as a parent, I am keenly aware of the correlation between how well our young people perform and how well our city performs. I want to do my part to ensure that all aspects of the citizenry have the tools and support in place to excel,” said Willis.
